1. Playa Grande - The classic that never fails
It is the main beach of Puerto del Carmen and one of the most accessible. With golden sand and calm waters, it is perfect for swimming, walking or spending the day with the family.
- Distance from Salitre House: approx. 10 minutes by car
- Ideal for: families, relaxed bathing, sunset strolls
- Services: showers, beach umbrellas, sun beds, lifeguards
It is also surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. If you are looking for comfort without complications, this is the beach for you.
2. Playa Chica - Small, quiet and perfect for snorkelling.
Tucked away among volcanic formations, Playa Chica is an authentic treasure for those seeking calm and marine life. Its crystal clear waters are ideal for diving and snorkelling.
- Distance: 10 minutes by car
- Ideal for: snorkelling, scuba diving, quiet bathing
- Local Council: go early to find a place (it's small)
There are water sports companies in the area, in case you want to try scuba diving.
3. Playa de los Pocillos - Spacious and family-friendly
One of the widest beaches in the area. It is ideal for strolling along the shore, flying kites or spending a day with children.
- Distance: 12 minutes by car
- Ideal for: families, sand sports, peace and quiet
- Environment: more relaxed than Playa Grande
The surrounding promenade is perfect for walking or renting a bike.
4. Playa de Matagorda - Wind, space and relaxation
With a very local atmosphere and less crowded, Matagorda is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet. It tends to be a bit windier, so it is also good for those who are looking for sports such as windsurfing.
- Distance: 13-15 minutes by car
- Ideal for: relaxation, hiking, water sports
- Recommendation: ideal at sunset, with an unobstructed view
5. Barranco del Quíquere Beach - Hidden corner for adventurers
A different beach, wilder, without services or crowds. To get there you have to walk a bit, but it is worth it if you are looking for a natural and not very touristy experience.
- Distance: 8 minutes by car + 10 minutes on foot
- Ideal for: total disconnection, reading, photography
- Council: wear comfortable shoes and bring water
Not for everyone, but one of our favourites for its authenticity.
